Hangin' with the Fam

Dayv's parents (Ron and Janelle) arrived late Friday night from Canada. It's always fun having them come and stay with us and the kids, of course, love it! Despite not seeing them very often all three of the kids immediately attached themselves to them. We had a huge extended family picnic party yesterday up Cottonwood Canyon. Today we are having a much smaller family dinner with Ron and Janelle and Mike and Christy and kids. It has always been fun for me to get together with Dayv's family. It is a whole different experience then with mine. For one, there are ten kids in his family compared to the three in mine. Also, all of his siblings have kids and I'm the only one in mine. Everybody in Dayv's family is also very friendly. I have been hugged by complete strangers in his family.

The kids and I will probably be making a trip to Vegas this weekend. Dayv's sister Tiffany is flying in from Boston. I thought it would be a good time to go since Dayv's parents are already going down. Dayv unfortunately won't be able to make it because of work.

Carson is more excited then ever to start school on the 2nd of Sept. He has been driving me crazy! He is just bouncing off the walls!!! Tahirah has been getting into quite a bit of mischief lately. She has this thing with washing her hands and lately has been dumping the whole container of soap in the sink. Then yesterday I caught her cutting our dogs hair. And later discovered she also sniped a chunk out of Noah's! Kids......

Just Another Day in Paradise

After updating my "About Me" I tried looking for the song Just Another Day in Paradise by Phil Vassar to add to my play list. Unfortunately, they don't have that one available. So, I decided to add the lyrics here. This is Dayv's and my life story!

The kids screaming, phone ringing
Dog barking at the mailman bringing
That stack of bills - overdue
Good morning baby, how are you?
Got a half hour, quick shower
Take a drink of milk but the milk's gone sour
My funny face makes you laugh
Twist the top on and I put it back
There goes the washing machine
Baby, don't kick it. I promise I'll fix it
Long about a million other things

Well, it's ok. It's so nice
It's just another day in paradise
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

Friday, you're late
Guess we'll never make our dinner date
At the restaurant you start to cry
Baby, we'll just improvise
Well, plan B looks like
Dominoes' pizza in the candle light
Then we'll tippy toe to our room
Make a little love that's overdue
But somebody had a bad dream
Mama and daddy
Can me and my teddy
Come in to sleep in between?

Yeah it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Well, it's two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

Well, it's ok. It's so nice.
It's just another day in paradise.
Well, there's no place that
I'd rather be
Two hearts
And one dream
I wouldn't trade it for anything
And I ask the Lord every night
For just another day in paradise

For just another day in paradise
Well, it's the kids screaming. The phone ringing
Just another day
Well, it's Friday. You're late
Oh yeah, it's just another day in paradise

BEES.....AHHHHHHH!

Thursday morning my sister in law, Christy called and asked if the kids and I wanted to join them for a trip to Wheeler Farm. I happily obliged and we had a great time until......the bees! There is this very odd shaped tree that they call "the climbing tree" at the farm. The kids love it! Well, as the kids were climbing all over it both Carson and Tahirah came running over to me screaming bloody murder, crying and swinging their arms all over. I finally understood "BEES!" I tried to get them to calm down so I could see if they were still on them and where the stings were. Carson had two still attached to his shirt. Carson ended up getting four stings, three on his arms and one on his nose. Tahirah got one on her finger. Carson was apparently more sensitive to the bee stings then Tahirah because his started swelling up immediately. Christy went and told somebody who worked there about what happened and they told her that they knew about the bees and had just sprayed so they were probably very upset. Because this is a very popular place for kids to play she told them that maybe they should put a sign up warning the parents and kids so nobody else would get stung. We had planned on letting the kids play in the little stream that runs through the farm after we were done looking at the animals. Carson and Tahirah would not even get out of the wagon and just keep saying they wanted to go home. Despite the protests from Christy's kids we kept it short and drove back to Christy's house for some Benedryl and IB profen. We also tried the old antic, baking soda and water paste. Now that we were away from the bees they both calmed down and decided that they would be ok going to McDonald's instead of home like we had also planned. By the time we got to McDonald's Carson and Tahirah were acting like themselves and said their stings no longer hurt. Carson even said to me, "I guess now I know more about bees". It was the first time either one of them had been stung and I think now they will be deathly afraid of them.

What is THAT?

This....is our bean, our 8 week, 4 day old baby! For those of you who have not looked at very many 8 week ultrasounds, it's the oblong thing in the middle at the bottom of the black triangle. No, it's not much to look at but it sure made ME happy! I've been a little apprehensive with this pregnancy because I've had two episodes of bleeding which is something I've never experienced with any of my other three pregnancies. So, my CNM did an ultrasound just to be sure everything looked good. I've been pretty sick for the last 3 weeks and SOOOO TIRED! It's during this stage I ask myself, why did I do this again? My CNM told me some things to try so we'll see if they help. My next appointment is scheduled for the 15th of September.

Some other great news is Carson has been accepted into the charter school Canyon Rim!!! I was so excited when I got the phone call. The school we are zoned for is not a very good school and I had applied to about 8 or so different charter schools around the valley. They are all on a lottery system and we were never called to say he was in. So, I registered him in my nieces and nephew's school which is still a public school but a heck of a lot better then the one over here. Well, this morning I got the call to say Carson's name was picked for the PM kindergarten class. We are going over to check it out a little tomorrow.

Geri's Swim School

We ended up taking Carson somewhere else for swim lessons. We just were not impressed with the West Valley Fitness Center's program or one of the teachers. I am so glad we did! Geri's Swim School is AWESOME! They actually teach them and focus a lot on technique. It is a 45 minute lesson everyday Monday through Friday for two weeks. The first 15 minutes are spent for play time which they bring out different pool toys every day. Carson likes the noodles the best. And then they have their lesson during the last 30 minutes. I'm sad I didn't go check it out sooner. Everybody in my neighborhood kept telling me how wonderful it was but I could never find out who to call or where it was. Luckily I was able to find out just before the last session by my new visiting teaching partner (who just moved in next to me) who happens to be a member of the family who runs it. The unfortunate thing is I will have to wait until next year to enroll him in another session. I guess we will have to try and go swimming a lot between now and then so he doesn't forget what he has learned. Carson has been doing so great! I am very proud of him. He used to be terrified of the water. Now he dives in head first! This Friday will be his last day and I'm sure he's going to miss it. Something else that Dayv and I have noticed since he started was that he has not complained about his legs or arms hurting. I have been suspecting he has something other than just "growing pains". I have a friend with Fibromyalgia and told me there is such a thing as Childhood Fibromyalgia. I read up on it and Carson does have a lot of the symptoms. It will be very difficult to get diagnosed though. I also read that swimming was something that would help it. Whether it's Fibromyalgia or not I was happy to find out that swimming did help him!

New Haircuts!

This last Thursday Tahirah and I went to the salon on got new haircuts! We went to a new place called Le Studio and had it cut by Lanna. I had never been to her before but my sister-in-law has been raving about Lanna for quite some time now. I thought she did a great job and I will defiantly be back. I told her to do whatever she wanted and I was very happy with the outcome. Tahirah also loves her new cut because it means that I don't have to brush out her rat's nest everyday. I think the look is adorable on her.
